So, it's been a little while since I posted last! I've been pretty busy. I've had a couple of stints at Blue Sky, one at Sony, and I'm currently finishing up a contract at Digital Domain.
Also, lately I've been trying to draw more often. I'll try to post more
of the drawings as I go :) Here's one I did the other day.
I just recently redesigned my website. Check it out!

what separates us from the weak...
Yesterday, I was chatting with my sister and I mentioned how tired I was and that I thought I might need to take a nap. Well, right now in school she's writing a speech for one of her assignments and she asked me if I needed a speech-- I said I did. This was her impromptu speech to me--
"Sometimes in our lives, we face adversity. We feel the need to sleep... to rest.. to close our eyes and lay our heads down, for just a second. But do we give in to these superficial urges deemed necessary by our slothish society? NO! It is our responsibility as human beings-- nay, as air breathing, task-accomplishing machines to never sleep, to never blink, to never take our eyes off our computer screens for more than a nanosecond, but to spend our lives working, and struggling to stay awake at all times. It is what separates us from the weak. And may we remain a separated society for all eternity, for I have NOT had a dream."
Anyway, it made me laugh. Also, I didn't take a nap.
Very clever, little sis.

happy easter :)
So, today I was walking into church when I noticed this woman and her daughter walking in front of me. The daughter was cute and energetic but what really struck me was the way the woman was carrying her purse and holding her hand. I tried it out when I got home.. it was pretty uncomfortable.
Anyway, I did a little sketch aaaaand here it is.
It's been so long since I posted anything. And since then, I've graduated AM! Hard to believe how quickly it went. I'm still finishing the short that I worked on in classes 5 and 6 but just for fun, here are a couple shots from classes 3 and 4. (I know that I've posted these before, but these are rendered and prettier!)
So, that's it for me. Happy Easter!! :)

sweet.
so this past week the final pantomime piece was done and this is what i turned in.
so, there are still things that i think need to be worked on so i'm gonna try and get that done this week. we're also starting a new project now with lip synch so i've been trying to find some interesting 5-10 second long one person lines. harder than i thought it would be. last time i did lip synch was junior year in college and i knew right off the bat what i wanted to do... so that made it way easier! but i gotta do video ref for 3 different lines and thumbnails and revise the animation.
friday night i went to the andrew bird concert in orlando which was phenomenal! like.. mind blowing. i was kinda nervous to go bc i felt like i had so much to do and its orlando so thats like a 2 hr drive each way. but i went and am so glad-- it was awesome to see some of my o-town friends and the concert was totally inspiring.
some videos from the orlando show.. gotta love youtube!
yep awesome

week 10? already??
i did it! i finished my blocking plus and handed it in on time. this week was basically a huge struggle the whole time. i tried to take all the notes i was given by my mentor and peers and really get it into this pass.
obviously there is still a lot of work to be done, but i feel like its a big improvement on what i turned in last week.
i ordered two books online and got them in last week which was pretty exciting. they're both really cool... eric goldberg's character animation crash course! and dan romanelli's draw the looney tunes. bryan recommended the looney tunes one. actually i don't know if i ever mentioned him before in my blogs which is silly, i should have. my mentor this term is bryan engram. he works at reel fx and is a really great mentor! last term i had nicole herr as a mentor and she was great as well. fun stuff, i love animation mentor. really really fantastic program.
anyway, i'll try to post a video of my shot from last week. time is flying! can't believe it's already week 10 and then its on to class 3! gonna go watch heroes now, how i met your mother was a repeat or i'd watch that too. yay monday night tv!

week 12!
Okay! so I made it through the first term of AM! and it was awesome!!
this past week the pose was balance. at first, yoga immediately came to mind... because yeah.. you need balance for that for sure!
but check this out.
so this is the pose i submitted.

and here is the completed flower girl walk.
i don't know that i'm completely happy with it.. i think it feels little floaty but it was due and that's what i turned in. and man oh man.. those knees were killer.
i can't believe that it's week 12! this class FLEW by. man, i'm so pumped for class 2!

walk like an egyptian
heyy, so this week was kinda crazy! i did some revisions. here's the revised vanilla walk.
and also after reviewing my critique i revised my concerned pose.

ok, so the assignment for this week was a character walk. we were supposed to animate ballie with a personality! fun stuff. nicole really stressed knowing your character this week in class and said that coming up with a backstory for why ballie is walking the way he is would help a lot.
originally, i was going to do a ballerina walk. i thought it would be really fun, i could give ballie long legs and move them a little closer together to make it more feminine. i watched ballets online and then found music to animate to (esmeralda), planned out a walk, did video reference, and started blocking the whole thing out. well, 5 am thursday morning (assignments are always due on sunday) i realized i hated it. i felt like the walk i was doing was missing the point of the assignment. it was turning out to be some weird choreographed dance. so i called the quits. once i woke up again, i decided to go a completely different direction and animate ballie as a 5 year old flower girl walking down the aisle at a wedding. and she didn't know that there were going to be so many people there and they're all watching her! so she's kind of in awe by the whole situation but she knows she's supposed to walk forward.. she can't help but take it all in at the same time.
so that's my story. and here's the blocked out animation..
and the pose for this week was exhaustion. something i know very well.. haha

so the assignment this week is to finish the character walk, splined and everything and then the pose is balance.
we're also supposed to get a personal assessment this week from our mentors so that's pretty cool. anyway, i think i'm gonna get away from the computer for a bit.
ciao
